Jose Gonzalez

Yes, it seems like a pretty generic hispanic name, but Jose Gonzalez is one HECK of a songwriter. Check his bio:

Veneer is the debut album by Swedish-born minstrel José González…already a certified quiet-is-the-new-loud legend in his native Sweden. Who needs bells and whistles (outside of a forlorn trumpet and some subliminal percussion) when songs are this strong and the voice is this perfect? When all that you need to hold an audience in blissful rapture is what you can balance on a barstool? Jose’s sensual, sensitive, powerful vocals and supernaturally gifted guitar playing truly recalls artists like Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Hayden, and Mark Kozelek. He’s earned the accolades by writing incredible songs and staying true to his heart, keeping the songs barebones simple.

He's sort've in label limbo right now, having jumped off of his home record label onto a larger one for a bigger push to the record, and now I can't find anything on him.

I heard him off pandora.com- you can go there and listen to one of his tracks by typing in "Jose Gonzalez" into the 'create station' box if you're interested.

Anyone else heard of him? I think his voice is fantastic and his songwriting is awesome.

I got his song Crosses from an indie pack and fell in love with his sound, its really deep, beautiful acoustic stuff. I'm not a big fan of religious overtones but this song is worth it.

I searched LTS for Jose Gonzalez before I posted my thread and this didn't come up, so now we have two threads for him... Either way, yes I love his work
